Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on August 8, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Audrey's parents as a dentist and teacher, were aware of and encouraged their daughter's love for acting and drama on an early stage. This support was more than enough to combat her desire to become an animal scientist. Her rise to fame as a young actress was quick and marked by her early successes. After her graduation in 1998, she was a participant in a French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers that was supported by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching acting professionally. Tautou, who attended her school at the Institut Catholique de Paris in Paris when she was a kid and studied there at an early age she has since renounced her Catholic education. She now says she is not a Catholic. In addition to acting, she took up modeling and was the model of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and global fame after her first major role starring as a lead character in The Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie was a box-office international success, and received accolades at awards galas around all over the world. Amelie was the highest-rated French-language film in the US. The film's success led to a huge increase in production. Tautou was later cast in numerous films, including British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. She also starred alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
